Remodels, additions, and new homes.Built to the line.
Kris Gilbert Construction is Kris's general contracting company. He takes on whole-home remodels, room additions and ADUs, kitchens and baths, and ground-up builds across Chico & the North Valley, and stays on each one until the final inspection is signed off.
What Kris takes on
Residential general contracting, from a single room to a whole house. Each project runs under one contract, one schedule, and one person answering for it.
Whole-Home Remodels
Opening up a floor plan, moving walls, replacing what the house has outgrown. Phased when you need to keep living in it while the work goes on.
- Open-plan conversions
- Interior reconfigurations
- Aging-in-place updates
Additions & ADUs
Room additions, second units, and garage conversions, framed to match the existing structure and built to current code.
- Room additions
- Detached & attached ADUs
- Garage conversions
Kitchens & Baths
Layout, cabinetry, counters, tile, plumbing, and electrical, sequenced so the room is out of service for as short a stretch as possible.
- Kitchen remodels
- Bathroom remodels
- Fixture & finish upgrades
New Homes & Shops
Ground-up houses, shops, and garages. Site work, foundation, framing, trades, and finish coordinated under a single contract and a single schedule.
- Custom homes
- Shops & garages
- Plan-to-finish management
Decks, Patios & Exterior
Decks, patio covers, siding, and trim built for valley summers and wet winters, with flashing and drainage done properly the first time.
- Decks & patio covers
- Siding & trim
- Exterior repairs
Repairs & Structural Work
Dry rot, failing beams, sagging floors, doors and windows that no longer close. The smaller jobs that still need a general contractor on them.
- Structural & dry rot repair
- Doors & windows
- Punch-list work
The job, sheet by sheet
Every set of plans opens with an index of its sheets. This is ours: what happens at each stage, and what you have in hand when it is done.
Site visit
Kris walks the property with you, measures, photographs, and asks what the finished space needs to do.
Scope and price
A written scope of work: what is included, what is not, allowances for finishes you have not chosen yet, and the price for all of it.
Permits and schedule
Drawings go to the building department when the job needs them. You get a calendar with the major milestones and the weeks there will be people on site.
Construction
Demolition, framing, trades, and finish, in that order, with the site swept at the end of each day. Changes are priced and approved in writing before anyone acts on them.
Walkthrough and close-out
A final walk together, a punch list worked to zero, the final inspection signed off, and the warranty paperwork and manuals handed over.
The questions people ask before they hire anyone
Answered the same way on the site as on the phone.
Have a question that is not here? Call or text Kris. A ten-minute conversation usually settles whether the project is a fit.
(530) 566-4943Who is on your job
Kris, plus the framers, plumbers, electricians, and finish carpenters he works with regularly. He is on site most days and reachable by phone the rest.
How changes are handled
Priced and approved in writing before the work happens, whether the change is your idea or something found inside a wall.
What the site looks like
Swept and secured at the end of every day. Dust barriers and floor protection go up before demolition when you are living in the house.
When you hear from him
A short update at the end of each week on site, and a call the same day if something changes the plan or the schedule.
Have a project in mind?
Call or text Kris the basics and he will set up a site visit.
Tell Kris about the project
A few sentences is plenty, here or by text. Kris will follow up to set up a site visit and put together a written scope.
